Universal health care coverage is a a goal we all share, and an AMA priority. many ideas are floated, including “medicare for all”, but this unlikely to happen for many reasons, not the least being medicare payments are below the cost of maintaining an office, and medicare requires supplemental insurance. A better idea is to follow what works in other countries such as Switzerland, or Australia, that is, a “public option”. the following is one way to get there:
